Long-Nosed Butterflyfish, Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish, Forceps Fish

Forcipiger flavissimus

Size: 10 3/4 inches

Minimum tank size: 70 gallons

Reef safe: With caution. They can be used to control aptasia but may pick at LPS, soft coral and clam mantles.

Diet: Meat based foods and aptasia. May nip at corals

Temperament: Territorial

General: Longnose butterflies are a very colorful addition to the hobbyist’s tank, but should be added with caution in reef tanks. They may be used to control aptasia anemeones but are a much less safe option than copperband butterflies. Longnosed butterflies tend to nip at LPS, soft corals and clam mantles.
