Heniochus

Heniochus, White Butterflyfish, Longfin Bannerfish

Heniochus acuminatus

Size: 10 inches

Minimum tank size: 50 gallons

Reef Safe: With caution. Heniochus may pick at corals but often their favorite food is clam mantles.

Diet: Meat based foods. May pick at corals and clams.

Temperament: Not aggressive towards other species. May be kept with other heniochus in a shoal.

General: Heniochus are one of the best butterflies to keep in aquaria although they are not technically a member of the butterfly family. They usually accept prepared foods regularly, but should be watched closely to be sure they are competing for food with other inhabitants. It’s common for heniochus to eat clams and some may even nip at large polyp stony corals.
