Tunze Wavebox 6215 Reviewed

Awhile ago I unboxed a Tunze 6215 Wavebox for your viewing pleasure, and now that I’ve been playing with it for awhile, I’m ready to give some thoughts on it. For my testing I ended playing with the 6215 on a 150 gallon, 75 gallon and 40 gallon tank. Though it’s rating really only justified it being on the 150 gallon, it worked extremely well on all three. Follow along for the details and video after the break. Read more »

Tunze Wavebox 6215 Unboxed

I’ve always been a fan of the look waves in a reef tank can give your corals, and I’ve always run wavemaker pumps for this reason. I’ve also always been very curious about the waveboxes that Tunze makes, but never got a chance to even see one in person or see one running. That all changed this week when I received a  Tunze 6215 Wavebox to play with. I wasn’t sure what to expect out of these interesting devices, but I can definitely say, it’s not what I expected. Check it out after the break. Read more »

Since first seeing and hearing about this new light from EcoTech Marine, I’ve been dying to get some up close time with it, and today I finally got that chance. The Seneye device has been in Beta testing for a few weeks now, and the creators have been working out bugs the whole time. The second software release is already out, and I got some peaks at what it looks like and how it will function.

Check it out after the break.

AI Nano Reviewed *Video Update*

Blues 100%, Whites 30%

After un-boxing and playing with Aqua Illumination’s new nano LED fixture yesterday, I couldn’t wait to get some coral filled water under it. After placing it over several aquariums, I found that is easily penitrates over a foot deep and covers up to about 24″ X 24″, but the mounting arm looks most at home over a smaller tank, such as the AquaMedic Yasha it’s currently over.

Get in depth with the AI nano after the break.

Radion XR30w | Reef Light or Aquarium Pyrotechnics? *Updated*

EcoTech Marine’s new Radion XR30w was one of the most anticipated new products to hit the market at MACNA 2011, and after checking them out myself, I’m left wonder if this is merely a reef light or an aquarium pyrotechnics device. The combination of controllability and RGB capabilities makes this little black box put on a show easily. As you can see from the video, it can move quickly between just about any color you could want or transition with nice smooth fades. This little light will be one to watch!

EcoTech Marine Radion XR30w Cooling Explored

110909 085

Watching the forums today, it’s come to my attention that there is quite a bit of concern over how the Radion’s cooling system will hold up with the fan intake being on the bottom. This is a very logical argument. Putting a fan right over the water that is sucking air in to the fixture does seem a little crazy at first glance, but we have to look deeper than that before drawing a conclusion. I decided to go directly to the source to get some more information and hopefully put this argument to rest. Find out more after the break.
