Playing With Thrive Aquatics

Today I finally got some extra time to log in and play with Thrive Aquatics’ new website software. After setting up my tank profile it was pretty easy to navigate and plug in tank testing parameters.

After entering parameters, Thrive takes you to a summary showing what you are at, and what you should be shooting for.

Follow along for the rest of the process after the break.

Thrive Aquatics' Website is Live

The cutting edge new chemical company, Thrive Aquatics, launched their website today with as trendy a look as their products. As they advertised before it includes everything needed to input your tank parameters and get a chemical prescription for your aquarium. The site is now open for you to sign up for the forums and start getting your tank profile in though their products will not be available as of yet.

I’m very interested how this company will fair after launching their actually product line. Their philosophy is a very interesting way to help out the local stores, the environment and our tanks, but I’m very curious about the liability of calling a product a prescription.

The New DSA Neo Storm 50 Aquarium

I’m really starting to wish I could be at the Superzoo show out in Vegas, but at least we can ride along with Kieth from AquaNerd. Check out his latest find:

The SuperZoo show in Vegas may have been more focused on the dog-side of the pet industry, but there were a few noteworthy aquarium items. Our focus today is a new aquarium from Deep Sea Aquatics. The DSA Neo Storm 50 aquarium is similar to the Neo Nano tank with the waterfall style overflow that was seen a couple years ago, but…

The New Fluval Edge Line

Fluval’s Edge aquariums have built up a following of dedicated reef keepers since their debut, but with limited lighting options, these tanks have always been DIY heavy and not beginner friendly. Fluval is finally going to begin changing that with some updates as well as a larger Edge tank.

RoboSnail is Almost Here

RoboSnail was announced some time ago, but now it’s finally almost time for them to hit stores. This little device is, just like it sounds, a small robot that cleans your glass for you. Samples will be going out this month to those lucky enough to get one, and pre-orders will also begin. These little robots are expected to retail for around $225, so if you’re tired of cleaning your glass, start saving now.

Details and video after the break.

Strange New Nano Skimmer From Octopus

Recently a video has surfaced of a strange new in tank nano skimmer from Octopus dubbed the Cupid. This skimmer is designed to hang in the tank by a bracket that attaches to the rim with thumb screws. In the video it uses a Bubble Blaster pump with what looks like large diameter tubing for the air intake. Sounds normal so far, but that’s where it ends. The bottom of the Cupid is left completely open allowing excess water to simply fall back out into the aquarium. It’s interesting that this is the first I’ve seen of this idea, but that is most likely for good reason. Micro bubbles escaping the bottom looks to be a problem in the video. The Cupid is supposed to be finished soon and ready to go to market, so hopefully we will be seeing and hearing a lot more about it soon.

Seneye Device Software Peak

The Seneye device has been in Beta testing for a few weeks now, and the creators have been working out bugs the whole time. The second software release is already out, and I got some peaks at what it looks like and how it will function.

Check it out after the break.
