Zeovit Invasion: Coral Snow and Pohl’s Xtra

There’s a Zeovit invasion going on in my neck of the woods thanks to Proline Aquatics, and to start trying out this inclusive reef system, I’ll be starting with Coral Snow and Pohl’s Xtra. These will of course take some time to test fully and report back on the results, but I’ve never posted any information about the Zeo system, and thought it would be prudent to do so in advance. Check out the details after the break.

Zeovit is one of those nitch products that I’ve never got the chance to give a try, but I’ve seen information and feedback about it everywhere. I have to admit that before looking closely at the catalogue, I wasn’t even exactly sure what the Zeo system entailed. Previously I had seen many people raving about what it did for the growth and coloration of corals, and famous videos such as the one below always got me thinking about trying out this German engineered line of products.

As you can see the other-worldly coloration attained through the Zeovit system borders on the too good to be true, but I am set on discovering the truth behind it. To get started, I’ll be testing out Coral Snow on my 40 gallon soft coral, anemone and clam reef, and I’ll also be giving Pohl’s Xtra a whirl on my 75 gallon SPS reef.

Coral Snow:

Coral Snow naturally addresses several issues that plague modern reef tanks – yellow or hazy water, stubborn nutrient accumulations and red slime algae.

After an initial cloudiness, Coral Snow leaves the water column crystal clear, almost luminous; your fish and corals will appear as though they’re suspended in thin air! Coral Snow is non-toxic and will not negatively impact livestock if accidentally overdosed.

Coral Snow can also be used as a nutrient carrier to increase direct absorption of vitamins, minerals and elements by the coral. As a highly absorbent Bio-Clay, Coral Snow will sponge up any additives that are mixed with it prior to dosing. Corals have a natural tendency to trap these clay particles in their mucous to be consumed.

This is a much more effective method of delivering these elements to the coral than traditional dosing to the water column.

Use Coral Snow to:

Neutralize undesirable acids
Incrementally address the baseline problems that cause Red Slime algae
Promote incredible water clarity overnight
Entice additional polyp extension from corals
As a vitamin or element carrier for direct absorption

The 40 gallon reef that will be the test subject for Coral Snow does not have algae problems that may be solved, but it has had problems with nutrients, due to its heavy feeding schedule, and extremely yellow water. I will be dosing this product, to the T, by the directions and will report back changes as they come in.

Pohl’s Xtra:

This product enhances the colors of your stony corals.

– Improves all kind of color significantly.
– Improves coral growth enormously.
– Improves vitality visibly.

My 75 gallon SPS reef will be the subject for Zeovit’s Pohl’s Xtra, and being packed with SPS that needs some extra coloration should be the perfect testing grounds. I will also be doing this one as per Zeovit’s directions and reporting back on my findings.

I’m hesitant to say much more with so little time using the system so far, but I can’t help but giving you a little teaser. To my shock, just one week after beginning to dose Pohl’s Xtra, I am seeing some coloration changes. Where the color will end up, is still to be seen…

Check back for updates as I dive deeper into this mythical reef system.
