There’s not much on the market yet for mounting EcoTech Marine‘s new Radion XR30w LED light fixture, but early this morning, Modular LED announced that they would be changing that. Today they are introducing a new mounting bracket that will suspend the new, top of the line Radion, as well as the Aqua Illumination SOL, Nano, and in the future, it will be compatible with the AI Vega as well.

It appears to be a fairly simple concept with a large arm attaching to the cabinet at the base of the tank and bending up to suspend the light over the tank, but it does have one small feature that defies convention and should make it stand out in a crowd. The arm doesn’t simply attach to the light directly. It instead attaches to a plate on the light by a bolt which will allow the Radion, SOL, Nano or Vega to pivot as desired. The arm is made out of steel and has several adjustment holes, so it should easily put large LED light loads right where they are needed.

How to calculate size:

• Width: The width of your bracket is the distance over your tank from the back of your stand plus 3/8 inch for the mounting plate to the nearest inch.
• Height: The heigh if your brackket is the height of your tank + the height the fixture will hang above your tank plus 2 inches for the mounting plate (you may wish to add a few inches to the height for adjustment).
