Hands on With Thrive Aquatics’ Frag Plug Tree

Today the mail surprised me with something, from Thrive Aquatics, that I had not even heard of. Their Frag Plug Tree is an innovative new way to store your frags vertically right up against the glass.

The basic make of the Frag Plug Tree is a vertical rod with suction cup attachments at either end. In between, on the rod, are frag plug stations which can be slid up, down or rotated around the vertical rod. This makes for very efficient storage of up to 10 plugs, and due to the varying length of the frag docks and positioning around the rod, they all get plenty of light and have space to avoid one-another. It truly is an innovative, simple solution to a common problem in display tanks, and it’s the perfect way to squeeze just a little bit more room out of your tank.

The Frag Plug Station assembles easily by sliding the frag stations on the rod. Suction cups attach with thread in retainers, and you’re ready to go. The suction cups are over-sized which should help with long term durability, and they are plenty to hold a full rack.

This was an unexpected delivery today, but the Frag Plug Tree has already found a home and a use that no other product could fill.

Interesting. Nice concept but the suction cups have got to go. IME no matter the quality cup, one or all will not stay stuck long term.

I would have to agree with you there. Maybe we will see some magnetic replacements for them in the future. The only problem is with the prices of neodym going up, adding magnets only makes products more expensive.

I do like this new design. Perhaps if the suction cups were replaced with magnets, it would perform better.
