Glue Free Frag Plugs From Reef Tap

IMAG0273

There’s something new coming from the small company, Reef Tap, in the form of a small but innovative little frag plug design. Getting plugs attached to the rockwork in display tanks is always a bit of a chore, requiring glue and some patience, but Reef Tap’s frag plugs are looking to change that.

The top is a nice natural dome shape with a rough surface on top for easily attaching corals, but underneath is where the real innovation is. Rather than a smooth post that is only useful on frag racks, Reef Tap put self tapping threads on the ceramic post. These should easily screw right in to a properly sized hole in your live rock and stay put no matter how many snails rumble across it. Reef Tap also says they have added calcium and strontium to their ceramic mix which in theory could leech into your aquarium slowly to help boost levels. These plugs are not on the cheap end at 20 for $25, but for those that really hate getting out the glue, they might be worth it.
